Hen's teeth revisited
A while ago, when I had just started collecting vintage 8-bit computers, I posted about hard-to-find machines. Things have change a bit since then and the list is much smaller. One reason is that I’ve been trawling eBay for a while now, and more of these have appeared. The other, and almost certainly the biggest reason, is that I’ve been willing to spend more for machines than I did when I started. Since I don’t want to work out how much I’ve spent, let’s move onto the list.
Apple II - I now have an Apple IIe and a IIc. I just had to pay more.
Oric-1 - I now have two of these due to some over-enthusiastic eBay bidding.
Oric Atmos - I found one and it’s as gorgeous in real life as it was in my memory.
Dragon 32/64 - I’ve yet to find a 64, but I’ve posted about my Dragon 32.
MSX - I now have several of these.
Timex Sinclair 1500 - I found one of these in a fancy briefcase setup.
Colour Genie - there’s one on eBay, but I can’t bring myself to pay the asking price (yet).
Grundy NewBrain - Forget it. These things go for silly money.
Jupiter Ace - These go for even sillier money.
Sord/CGL M5 - I scored one of these for a not outrageous price. Unfortunately, it’s missing the cartridge slot cover, but I’m considering myself luck to have even that.
All new teeth.
Of course, I’ve found a couple more machines I’d like to get hold of, but I’ve yet to find them at even close to a reasonable price.
TI-99/4 - This is NOT the TI99/4A. It’s the older model with the chiclet keyboard. There was one on eBay for a ridiculously Buy-It-Now price, but I’d rather not talk about that.
Camputers Lynx - again, there are a couple sitting out there on eBay, but the asking prices are way to high for me.
If I ever find either of these, I’ll repost the list with something even harder to find….
